Other Platforms — Tap Zap

The Linux beta is available now. Select Android or iOS if you want an email when their status changes.

Linux

Free beta available

Experimental x86_64 builds for Omarchy / Hyprland, X11, GNOME Wayland, KDE Plasma Wayland, and Sway. A Mint 22.3 Cinnamon X11 candidate is also available; it has been built and tested in a virtual machine.

Older packages require glibc 2.38+. The Mint 22.3 candidate targets glibc 2.39; native Mint display testing is still pending. Check the setup guide and known issues before installing.

Android

Not built — gauging demand

Straight answer: Android gives apps no access to the system gamma tables without root. The only route is an accessibility-service overlay — a tinted layer drawn on top of everything else.

An overlay could change screen appearance, but would have different limits from the desktop display-control paths. A red appearance is not a measurement of emitted wavelengths.

An overlay could dim the picture while hardware brightness remains high, but that does not guarantee reduced PWM on a phone. Optical behavior depends on the panel, brightness, and mode. We have not established an Android implementation or its physical output.

iOS

Not possible as an app

The most locked-down of the three. iOS gives third-party apps no overlay and no display-pipeline access at all, so a real Tap Zap for iPhone can't be written. That's an OS limit, not a roadmap decision.

The closest thing that works is a Shortcuts and AssistiveTouch bundle that drives the accessibility colour filters already built into iOS — one tap, same idea, coarser control.

Get told when it's ready.

One email per platform you picked, when there's something to actually download. Nothing else.

You're on the list.

You'll hear from me when there's a real download — not before.
